Setting the scene

Although I have played various version of CM and FM from right back when with CM 93/94 on the Atari ST, I am new to this writing about what I do on FM. I have been reading others journeys and learning from the tactical masters on the SI forums.

I am by no means no master myself and some of the things I seem to try might be illogical to most but it has given be varied success in the world of Football Manager across the decades. Ideally I would start a new game for this new venture but I am far too into my current game.

I usually have my main game as manager of my beloved Spurs. I sometimes drop to the lower leagues across Europe in other games and although I have success I don’t tend to play those games long enough to take a team from the bottom to the top. Taking Swindon to the Premier League and finishing runners up is the most recent attempt a couple of versions ago. Inevitably when a new version is released, it becomes all about Spurs.

As my Spurs games are long term, one team games I always buy youth and the occasional older legend to help train the young ones. As a Spurs fan I like to keep with the belief of winning with glory, I like a contradictory fast paced possession extremely attacking based tactic that often leads to inconsistency in performances particularly away from home.

With the upturn in Tottenham’s form and performances and the style that Poch likes to employ I have attempted to model my approach on this. One thing I really wanted to achieve was Dele Alli making those runs in behind the strikers that we so often have seen for Spurs this year and the strong dependence on the use of fullbacks. Finally as I am in season 3 I think I have achieved this albeit not quite with the formation I expected.
