First business of the Summer, Bentaleb leaving the bright lights of London for Manchester joining City in a £25 million deal, Trippier soon followed in leaving to head to Norwich for £6.5 million. Tom Carroll went to Everton for £5.5 million, Valdes was shipped out for £500,000 to FC Copenhagen. A quick look at interested players and Paul Pogba’s name stood out, blowing my transfer budget on Pogba was a rash move but attracting a player of his quality was meant to push my team to the next level.
Several reserve team players left for sums of £500,000 to £1 million which also allowed me to bring in Lloris’ long term replacement from Milan for £8 million, Donnarumma and Manga from Santos for £1 million.
The season itself started with a new formation and a 4-2 away win against newly promoted Brighton. This was followed by a disappointing 4-1 home defeat against Man City, some mixed performances but our best performances were saved for the Champions League group stage where we were drawn against Anderlecht, Sparta Prague and Atletico. Qualifying unbeaten after drawing both games against Atletico and comfortably winning the other 4 games.

During the January transfer window, Robinho came in for a small sum of £125,000 to mentor the youngsters, drawn against Barcelona in the quarter finals was a monumental task, we went to the Nou Camp and drew 2-2 using a formation which saw Alli return to the AMC slot. The performance of the season came in the return leg, a 5-1 victory which was beyond our wildest dreams took is through to a semi final with Bayern.

A 4-1 victory against West ham in the FA Cup semi final, we were Tottenham and in true Spurs fashion we were a cup team with inconsistent league performances. Travelling way to Bayern we lost 1-0, whilst winning 2-0 at White Hart Lane. We were rewarded with the ‘easier’ draw against Monaco in the final however the final 2 league games were disappointing, a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea and a 2-2 draw with Norwich. Luckily our cup form did not disappoint and we beat Chelsea in the final of the FA Cup on penalties and Monaco 3-2 AET in a hard fought Champions League final where we dominated but could not close out the game to bring home the first pieces of silverware of my reign to much relieve.

Notable performances coming from
- Dele Alli 12 in 40 in all competitions (still had not quite got him performing how I wanted)
- Eriksen 14 in 52 with 12 assists
- Kane 31 in 45 with 12 assists
- Barbosa 10 in 20 with 8 assists
A successful cup campaign, but the league performances leave a lot to be desired.
